The Jeep brand is preparing to introduce three new vehicles to its lineup at the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. One of the three newcomers is the new 2010 Jeep Liberty Renegade, a rugged and versatile vehicle with standard class-leading capability features.
Scheduled to hit the showrooms in the first quarter of 2010, the new Renegade fills the gap between the Liberty’s Sport and Limited models. Thanks to its Selec-Trac® II full-time, active four-wheel-drive system, the newcomer guarantees for striking on and off-road capabilities. The 2010 Liberty Renegade will be offered in a new, Renegade-exclusive Salsa Red Pearl Coat exterior, as well as Natural Green Pearl Coat, Deep Water Blue Pearl Coat, Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat and Stone White Clear Coat.
The vehicle’s exterior highlights include painted Mineral Gray Keystone 16-inch wheels that wear new, rugged all-terrain P235/70R16 outline white letter (OWL); dark neutral metallic wheel flares, lower side sills, front and rear fascia, body side moldings and rear license plate bar; black headlamp bezel; Argent Silver accent on the lower fascia applique and roof rack; Satin Black vinyl hood graphics; deep-tint glass; fog lamps; skid plates and tow hooks.
Inside, the Renegade is fitted with new premium cloth seats; leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, instrument panel grab handle and park-brake boot; new driftwood accent bezels; leather-wrapped center console and soft-door armrests; premium Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC); cruise control; security alarm; rear cargo cover and steering-wheel-mounted radio controls.
The Jeep engineers have provided the 2010 Liberty Renegade with a 3.7-liter power unit capable to produce 210 horsepower (157 kW) at 5,200 rpm and 319 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
The Jeep Wrangler Overland is perfect for those craving travel and adventure. The Mopar design team took a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and turned it into a mobile “on-the-go” self-contained campsite.
To increase cargo capacity for hauling gear, the Jeep Wrangler Overland’s rear seats are replaced with a large, flat, rubberized utility floor. Mounted to the cargo rack is an all-new ARB two-person Simpson II rooftop-mounted tent and touring awning. The interior of the Jeep Wrangler Overland features water-resistant Mopar front-seat covers, rugged Mopar slush mats, a Daystar dash bin and lower switch panel that powers added accessories.
Enhancing off-road travel is an American Expedition Vehicles’ (AEV), Nth Degree, 3-inch suspension lift and a Full Traction rear sway bar. The lift allows aggressive 35-inch tires mounted on 17-inch steel Mopar winter/off-road wheels to fit under the Jeep. Additional off-road protection at the front and rear is provided by AEV steel bumpers and for added security, a Warn 9.5ti winch.
In order to prepare the Jeep Wrangler Overland for desert duty, an AEV Jeep Wrangler heat-reduction hood and snorkel kit is fitted to the vehicle. Mopar windshield-mounted off-road lights and Daystar bumper-mounted lights provide additional lighting for nighttime and off-road driving.
The Jeep “Lower Forty” takes the Jeep Wrangler platform to a new extreme. The vehicle is equipped with massive 40-inch x 13.5-inch tires mounted on Mopar’s 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels. Mopar added aggressive wheels and tires to a stock, two-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon without the use of a suspension lift. The team’s goal was to achieve added ground clearance without dramatically altering the vehicle’s center of gravity. The team removed copious amounts of body metal in order to provide room for 40-inch meats. Three inches are chopped from the windshield frame and a 10-degree rake is added.
Custom front and rear fender flares are 1-inch wider and are located 4 inches higher than a stock Jeep Wrangler. A new one-piece carbon-fiber hood with a Jeep CJ-like power dome and an all-new drop-down tailgate stamped with the “Jeep” logo are added to complete the exterior design.
On the interior, an all-new roll cage is neatly integrated into the body tub and tied directly into the frame rails. A custom made bikini top from Bestop keeps drivers in the shade. The spare tire is relocated to the cargo floor and a custom cargo rack, supplied by Poly Performance, holds extra gear. Once all body modifications were completed, the exterior received a fresh coat of Red Eye No. 3 paint, a custom color developed by Mopar.
Custom touches throughout the interior include a color-matched center console and instrument panel. Seats are re-covered with Mopar’s Katzkin leather package in a two-tone scheme. Replacing the carpet is a durable, spray-in truck-bed liner. Rugged Mopar floor mats complete the theme.
Mechanical upgrades came directly out of the Mopar catalog. The Jeep “Lower Forty” features an all-new 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine and a Getrag 238 six-speed manual transmission. Powertrain installations were handled by Burnsville Off-Road using an AEV 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 conversion kit.
The Mopar-supplied Dana 44 front axle and a Dana 60 rear axle, fitted with 5.38 gears and ARB air lockers, were assembled by Dynatrac and revalved Bilstein shocks maintain vehicle stability on rough terrain.
STARTECH, the Germany tuners showcased at Frankfurt its exclusive refining programme for the Jeep’s ultimate SUV – the Grand Cherokee. Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland’s face has been through some serious changes for achieving this stunning high-end vision.
Outside, STARTECH has mounted a front spoiler with integrated LED daytime running lights in ‘Black Line’ design, a special rear apron that features cutouts for the two oval-shaped chrome-plated tailpipes of the STARTECH sport exhaust system and a STARTECH rocker panels with integrated LED lights upgrades every door of the vehicle.
A 22-inch STARTECH Monostar IV 22 wheels wrapped in low-profile Pirelli Scorpion tires strengthens the powerful Grand Cherokee appearance. The front axle features size 9Jx22 wheels with tires in size 265/35 R 22. The even wider rear axle combination of size 10Jx22 wheels and size 295/30 R 22 tires contributes greatly to the SUV’s even more agile handling with even greater safety reserves.
A special STARTECH suspension kit lowers the ride height of the Grand Cherokee by 30 millimeters, which further improves cornering.
The STARTECH specialists also boosted the 3.0 CRD model turbodiesel engine to 262 hp and maximum torque of 580 Nm, instead of the stock 218 hp and maximum torque of 510 Nm.
Exclusive interior design is yet another STARTECH specialty that is also available for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The list of accessories ranges from a speedometer bezel with brushed aluminum design to aluminum pedals and door-lock pins to polished stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated STARTECH logo.

Adding a touch of class and luxury to a car that has already won numerous accolades the Jeep Patriot S-Limited is the latest offering from the Jeep brand.
Available with a 2.4-litre petrol engine, this special edition model boasts a series of exterior and interior improvements, including chrome grille surrounds, body colored door handles and mirrors, rear parking sensor plus a special S-Limited badge and front and rear under-ride body-kit, all of which ensure it is a worthy addition to the Jeep Patriot range.
Federico Goretti, Managing Director of Chrysler UK, said: “The fuel-efficient Patriot has always appealed to customers that want a vehicle with Jeep’s legendary brand cachet and desirability, but who also demand comfort, practicality, value for money and high levels of safety equipment.
“The S-Limited is no exception and with its distinctive black paint and chrome styling it is one premium model that’s destined to stand out from the crowd.”
Interior improvements are achieved by the use of leather trimmed seats and leather and Alcantara® door panels, plus a leather covered center armrest, gearstick and headrests.
Outside, the S-Limited badge in red and silver finish makes this special edition instantly recognisable whilst the Startech chrome grille highlights the vehicle’s unique character.
While the exclusive design cues make the model an attractive proposition, it is further enhanced by a long list of standard equipment including electric windows, CD/radio, side-curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes and ESP® with Electronic Roll Mitigation.
The Jeep Patriot S-Limited is limited to 100 vehicles in the UK and is priced at £19,810 including metallic paint.
Making its debut at the 2008 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris, the Jeep® Patriot Back Country concept vehicle combines the fun, freedom and fuel efficiency of the Jeep Patriot with the active lifestyle of the Jeep customer to create a vehicle that exudes a fresh, youthful appeal.
Created from the newest Jeep Patriot Limited model, the Jeep Patriot Back Country concept features a redesigned interior, authentic Jeep accessories by Mopar® and a blend of unique materials.
“The Jeep Patriot Back Country concept was inspired by the outdoor enthusiast seeking adventure, fun and freedom,” said Ralph Gilles, Vice President – Design, Chrysler LLC. “Using a variety of materials typically associated with active lifestyles and a distinct color combination, the ultimate Jeep Patriot stands out in the great outdoors.”
Exterior Design – Ready for a Road Trip with Mopar Accessories
The compact SUV is outfitted with a variety of Mopar accessories, including a Roof Top Cargo Basket ideal for hauling camping equipment or outdoor gear. Off-road Lights accent the front of the cargo basket and are perfect for nighttime excursions or setting up camp. Mopar Deluxe Splash Guards complement the vehicle’s off-road capability.
At the side, the blackened B-pillar creates the look of a lengthened profile. The driver and front passenger doors feature a “BACK COUNTRY EDITION” badge affixed at the front quarter panel.
Body-color door handles complete the look. At the rear, a platinum chrome light bar illuminates the license plate.
Equipped with 18-inch wheels and tires, the concept’s two-box design is built for maximum cargo volume, rugged driving conditions and excellent utility.
The Jeep Patriot Back Country concept vehicle boasts a unique Optic Green exterior color, which is carried throughout the interior of the vehicle.
Interior Design – Incorporates the Outdoor Enthusiast Lifestyle
Influenced by the active lifestyle of the outdoor enthusiast, the interior of the Jeep Patriot Back Country concept features a variety of textures and materials not typically found in production vehicles.
Upon entry, sleek colors of Dark Slate Gray, Optic Green and satin chrome accent the vehicle. Mopar bright Door Sill Guards are embossed with the “PATRIOT” vehicle name and exemplify the attention given to the interior details. Satin chrome can be found on door locks, door handles, shifter knob, console and air vents. Bright Mopar Accelerator and Brake Pedal Covers add to the Jeep Patriot Back Country concept’s appeal.
The material used on the seat bolsters and head restraints, which is inspired by wet suits and scuba equipment, is made from a smooth urethane that can hold up either wet or dry. The seat inserts, a Dark Slate Gray, include a tire tread pattern with Optic Green urethane trim. The “BACK COUNTRY EDITION” logo can be found on both the driver and first-row passenger seats.
Optic Green stitching tactfully accents the vehicle’s floor mats and steering wheel. Made from two separate materials, the steering wheel features a textured diamond-patterned fabric at the top and, at the bottom, the same urethane material used for the seats.
The rear cargo floor is made of rubber and is perfect for carrying muddy shoes or dirty, dusty gear.
The Jeep Patriot Back Country concept is built around the redesigned interior and refined ride quality featured in the newest Jeep Patriot and Compass production models. The fresh interior includes all-new redesigned instrument panels, center consoles and door trim panels, while added insulation and tuning improvements further reduce noise in the interior. With their already high levels of safety, utility and 4×4 capability, the Patriot and Compass continue to advance the Jeep brand by providing customers with outstanding value.
The Jeep EV development vehicle is a Range-extended Electric Vehicle that provides a glimpse into the future of a “Go Anywhere, Do Anything” vehicle with renowned Jeep Wrangler capability.
The Jeep EV combines Wrangler’s unmatched off-road capability with the ultimate “Tread Lightly” mindset by providing nature ambassadors with the ability to roam the planet and take care of it at the same time.
The Jeep EV Range-extended Electric Vehicle uses an electric motor, an advanced lithium-ion battery system, and a small gasoline engine with an integrated electric generator to produce additional energy to power the electric-drive system when needed. The 200 kW (268 horsepower) electric motor generates 400 N•m (295 lb.-ft.) of torque. With approximately eight gallons of gasoline, the Jeep EV has a range of 400 miles, including 40 miles of zero fuel-consumption, zero-emissions, all-electric operation.
“We are also exploring four-wheel-drive, in-wheel electric motors to demonstrate the full reach of ENVI’s advanced electric-drive technologies,” said Rhodes.
The instant high torque of the electric-drive motor and the ability to precisely control each wheel independently results in off-road capability ideally suited for the Jeep brand, without compromising on-road driving capability.
